Mainz (dpa) - Das Umweltministerium in Mainz mahnt zur Urlaubszeit, bei Auslandsreisen mit Hunden und Katzen die im Gastland gültigen Bestimmungen zur Tollwutimpfung zu beachten.
Es sei zudem verboten, herrenlose Tiere mit nach Deutschland zu bringen, die nicht den EU-Vorschriften entsprechen. Bei Reisen in EU-Länder sei ein EU-Heimtierpass erforderlich, der von Tierärzten ausgestellt werde und auch den Nachweis der Tollwutimpfung enthalte. Für andere Haustiere als Hunde und Katzen sei der Pass nicht gültig. In Irland, Schweden, Malta oder Großbritannien gälten zusätzliche Vorschriften. Für Nicht-EU-Länder seien die jeweiligen Einreisevorschriften des Bestimmungslandes zu beachten.
